Ongoing Psychosocial Support Program in Earthquake affected Areas within the valley

On 29th May BNMT counselling team was in Jordhara, Kapan for need assessment and forming group for Psycho social Support program. In the mean while as a psychosocial support to about 25-30 children living in the tents of the particular area, the team also introduced various games and involved the kids in fun activities. It was heart-warming to see kids actively being involved in the games with smiling faces.  

Moreover as an effort to provide long term psycho social support to earthquake affected community, a team of counsellor oriented a group of 10 women on basic psycho social skills in Bhaktapur on 1st June. The group was enthusiastic to learn and help other affected individuals in their community. BNMT aims to create a sustainable psycho social support group from within the community to reach out the most affected families and individuals.

On 3rd June, BNMT was in Mankharka VDC, for Sundarijal, for psychosocial need assessment and counseling program. The team also interacted with 10 individuals. People showed a positive inclination towards the program and were ready to be part of BNMT lead psychosocial program.

On 4th June yet another team of counselor was in Gongabu area Kathmandu. During the visit we discussed with related stakeholder about psycho social support program need assessment in Gongabu area as it is one of the most affected areas within the Kathamdu district. Apart from that we also visited Himalayan old age home and counselled 10 elderly citizens on one to one basis.
